Why Arborwear Wednesday: Shauna Burt

A Q&A with our employee who makes Arborwear so amazing

Arborwear is a very special place, and it is the employees who make it so special. Our connections are what cultivates our family culture. That is why we are spotlighting our employees' alignment with our company vision, mission, and values. Shauna is our Sourcing & Supply Chain Manager who has been with Arborwear for 7 years! Learn more about Shauna:

Q: What drew you to Arborwear originally?

A: When I found the open Production Manager position online, it sounded like a good fit for my skills. I looked more into the company and thought it a fantastic and sustainable niche. Then I met Bill and I was sold - he's such a wonderful person and so down to earth. I knew this was someone I could work FOR and work WITH successfully.

Q: How has the company changed since?

A: Through some major growth we've held onto the culture and vision. This is impressive and I do hope we can maintain this trend.

Q: What is your favorite Arborwear memory?

A: I'd pick any of the Christmas parties. This group is the best and works so hard all year. It's so fun to hang and enjoy them after the fruits of all our labor.

Q: What motivates you to wake up and go to work?

A: It's motivating to know you're making a difference. I look forward to improving our supply chain and all the work that is entailed in doing so.

Q: What is your proudest moment at Arborwear?

A: There are many times I'm proud to work for Arborwear...in my position I work with many different manufacturers and fabric/trim mill partners from all over the globe. Through the years, Bill has built this brand with our partners so we truly can rely on them and vice versa. On a personal level - it's when I first toured my family through the store and office. The level of integrity in our brand makes a huge difference on the overall business and it shows.

Q: What is the best career lesson/advice you’ve learned so far?

A: I like to finish something to the best of my ability and move on to the next thing - I need to be productive. Bill has been very patient and urged me to slow down and become more methodical, thoughtful in my approach to tasks. They will get finished in time and I'm learning this.

Q: What do you like to do when you aren’t working?

A: When I'm not working, I enjoy spending time with my family (including my dog and cat!) I prefer to be outside - running, hiking, gardening, reading/lounging. Otherwise, I like to cook, bake, and I get crafty when I feel inspired. I love making homemade cards for my friends and family, too.

Q: What’s a fun fact about you many people may not know?

A: I really like earthworms and save them if I see them in the path where they may get stepped on. This comes from growing up fishing with my dad. Fishing bored me but I liked to play with the worms/nightcrawlers he used.

Q: What are 3 words to describe you?

A: Caring, Goofy, Energetic

Hi-5 Shauna for all of your contributions over the years, we appreciate you more than you’ll ever know!
