Looking to break that new crew member out of their shell? Let’s smooth the transition from rookie to expert with the following #OrientationTips
Start with an authentic tour
Tidy up the office, but keep your company’s character alive. Show them where they can put their belongings while they’re on the tour. Introduce them to everyone, especially those they will be working with most. Let them in on some inside jokes and give them a preview of what the work environment will be like out on the job. Overall, make them feel welcome.
Ask ‘em questions
Even the quietest crew members like to talk about themselves. Give them a chance to share a story when appropriate, ask them about their lives outside of work, and keep it personable.
Spread out the information
Don’t overload them with facts, figures, and all the specifics right away. Focus on your mission, make sure they’re ready to see their part in that mission, and go from there.
Break bread
Share a meal. Demonstrate how you take care of your crew.
Pro tip: Ask if they have any dietary restrictions or allergies.
Give them what they need to succeed
Provide them with some welcome wearables and gear. It’s time to get to work, and they’ll need a uniform that will:
- Keep them safe and comfortable
- Acquaint them with the rest of the crew
Arborwear provides customized fulfillment kits for onboarding and orientation. These kits can include embellished t-shirts, logo’d water bottles, embroidered hats, and more. Whatever makes the most sense for your company, we will pack it together.
